Here’s a cool trick.

It’s one I learned from my dad’s method of grilling burgers, adapted to be a bit more lowkey.

See, he used to make his burger patties large and in charge. He’d then press a small hole in the middle of the patties and apply a dollop of Stubb’s barbecue sauce, grilling non-marinated side down first, then flipping for the finale, creating a caramelized and crusty exterior, and a super juicy burger.

My version incorporates Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, or Stubb’s if you got it, into the burger blend, and my burgers are smaller. The result is an almost meatloaf-like flavor once grilled, that is juicy on the inside, and a nicely charred crust on the outside.

American cheese and a sesame seed bun finish these off right. Pure Americana.
